Accessing the data admin area
After you have registered and confirmed your account, log in to the Native Plant Monitoring data admin area.
Adding a new site
- To add a new site you will need a completed Site Information Sheet.
- On the Dashboard page, click the “Add new site” button.
- Enter the name of the site and click “Save”.
- In the map window, zoom in so that you can clearly see your planting site area. If you have Latitude and Longitude values (or Easting and Northing values) you can enter those and the map will jump straight to that location.
- Select the polygon tool within the map window (next to the hand tool at the top center).
- With the polygon tool selected, click once at each corner point around your site to define the shape of the site area. After you have set the last corner point, click the first point to complete an enclosed shape.
- After you have completed the shape you can switch back to the hand tool and click-and-drag on any of the corner points to fine-tune their position if needed.
- If you make a mistake you can start again by clicking the “Clear all polygons” button at the bottom right of the map window.
- Click “Save” when you have finished defining the site area.
- In the next step, fill out all the fields that you recorded information for on your paper Site Information Sheet.
- The “Region” field for the site is set automatically based on the region you selected when you registered your account, but you can change it if needed.
- In the “Planted species” section, click “Add species” to add a new row to this section.
- In the “Species” column, select one of the species options. You can filter the list by typing some of the species’ scientific name or NVS code. If needed you can refer to the species information page to look up the scientific name using a common name or Māori name.
- Enter the how many of this species were planted in the “Number planted” column.
- Repeat this process for all the species that were planted at your site.
- When you have finished entering all the site information, click the “Save” button. After that you can click the “Back to dashboard” button to return to the dashboard if you have other data admin tasks to complete.
Adding a new survey of a site
- To add a new survey you will need a completed Survey Sheet.
- On the Dashboard page, under the name of the relevant site, click the “Add new survey” button.
- Fill out all the fields that you have recorded information for on your paper Survey Sheet.
- In the “Photo” field, click the “Choose File” button to select a photo from your computer that shows the planting site taken at the time of this survey. After the photo has finished uploading you can add a caption in the “Notes” field if needed.
- When you have finished entering all the survey information, click the “Save” button. After that you can click the “Back to dashboard” button to return to the dashboard if you have other data admin tasks to complete.
Editing an existing site or survey
- For a site or survey that you have previously entered information for, you can edit that information by clicking the “Edit” link for the item on the Dashboard page.
- Refer to the “Adding a new site” and “Adding a new survey of a site” sections above for information about entering data to some specific fields.
- When you have finished editing the information, click the “Save” button. After that you can click the “Back to dashboard” button to return to the dashboard if you have other data admin tasks to complete.
Viewing a site report
- On the Dashboard page, click the “Report” link for a site.
- The “Site info” tab shows a read-only version of the information you have entered for the site.
- The “Charts” tab has charts that show the estimated survival and estimated average height for each survey that has been completed so far.
Viewing a survey report
- On the Dashboard page, click the “Report” link for a survey.
- The report shows a read-only version of the information you have entered for the survey.
Logging out
- Click the “Logout” button in the website header to log out of the data admin area.
